Embrace the Mindful living

Pre,- and Postnatal Yoga

Why Yoga?

Each birth is different but when a woman is giving birth, her life is changing profoundly and very often in unexpected ways. Giving birth can be a very physical demanding event and also it can bring strong spiritual and emotional experiences.
The flow of breath in Yoga opens a steady calm path through the forest of feelings, emotions and changes that new mothers inevitably go through. Yoga can give support in this time of changing responsibilities. A regular Yoga practice will increase your overall feelings of health. You will grow stronger, more confident and calmer. You will be better able to care for yourself and nurture your baby.

Yoga Mama

Ayurveda sees children as a precious gift to be welcomed, invited or not. They are little Gurus who can teach parents to cultivate qualities that may have otherwise lay dormant like unconditional Love. In many (ancient) cultures becoming a parent in considered an enriching event. An opportunity for spiritual growth and deeper relationships. Yoga is a practice that can support every mother with this, regardless the age of the child(ren). It can help to (re-) find balance, strength, flexibility and relaxation in every stage of motherhood.

Prenatal Yoga

Learn simple, effective tools to relax, in order to focus your attention on the wonderful experiences occurring in your body. Gain enormous benefits for yourself and your baby by practicing safe gentle movements combined with active conscious breathing techniques. You will learn the role of breath towards delivery. The asanas (exercise or movements) can be personalized to cater to individual needs, especially as the pregnancy progresses. No yoga experience is necessary. We focus on building strength in the spine and a flexible pelvic area to support labour. With a regular practice, you will gain strength and flexibility, a greater appreciation of the joys of these initial stages of motherhood, while learning to trust yourself and the innate power of your body. The classes encourage bonding with your unborn baby, plus an increased awareness of the effects of your physical movements on the baby.

“The Prenatal yoga class with Anneke is not only great because of the personal attention and the lovely antidotes that Anneke comes up with during her classes, helping u visualize your little boy or girl.
But it helps me get in touch with 3 vital points: presence, balance and the art of being kind to yourself – which  is all harder than you realize in the hum-drum of everyday society.” (Simone Ouwehand, Amsterdam)

About the Teacher
Anneke is a yogateacher and mother of baby Mila. She registered with Yoga Alliance (RYT 200) and the International Association of Yoga therapists (IAYT). Anneke believes that everyone who can breathe, can practice Yoga. For her it’s a challenge to inspire students and teach them to let go of fear and expectations and learn from their own direct experiences. To make contact with their intuition and trust (and Love) themselves. She don’t believe in changing people or ‘fix’ them, but rather help them find their own true nature and healing. She believes that adding ‘a Whole Lotta Love’ will help to transform and grow. Ashtanga and Jivamukti Yoga opened the door for Anneke and currently she is studying in the direct lineage of Krishnamacharya leading her towards yoga therapy. This way, she combines yoga with her other passion: Social Psychiatry. Pregnancy Yoga is learned bij Birthlight (UK) and K.Desikachar from India. In her classes she uses all the tools of Yoga to fit each individuals needs as much as possible, both one-to-one (privates) and in groups.
“The last few decades I combined my work and studies with living and traveling abroad. This introduced me to many places, people, cultures and experiences. All of these experiences have given me a global perspective of the world and my place in it. But it was really the experience of becoming a mom that inspired me to do the work that I am most passionate about today. When I was pregnant of Mila, I founded OriginalMama and this grows with us.”
